Chipolo Loop Review: The Best Rechargeable AirTag Alternative?

Lately we’ve seen a growing interest in subscription free Bluetooth alternatives like the Apple AirTag, Xiaomi Tag. BUT did you know that there are also even louder and rechargeable devices like the Chipolo Loop?
Let’s see if the Chipolo Loop is the best alternative to the well-known Apple AirTag.
Sustainability & Design
Now, of course the first thing you’ll see is the design and style of the Chipolo Loop. It’s a circular disc that has an integrated flexible silicone loop (it’s pretty thick so it seems to be very sturdy).
So unlike the AirTag 1 and also the AirTag 2nd generation, where you need to buy an extra gadget if you want to put it on your keys etc. The Chipolo Loop is ready to go right out of the box, which is super cool in my opinion.
Also, did you know it is made from 50% post consumer recycled plastic? So if you’re someone who takes sustainability seriously, then the Chipolo Loop will fit perfectly to your mindful goal.

The Sound
There is absolutely no question, that Chipolo Loop beats its other competitors! If you don’t know how loud is 125 dB, then just know that if your Loop is buried under a pile of laundry or in the grass, you WILL hear this.
There are different sounds you can choose, so it’ll be different than your usual squeaking sound of an AirTag.
The Battery
So as you might know, common practice is to use a small coin battery that lasts usually about a year.
Chipolo Loop however is rechargeable via USB-C. AND what is really cool, is that even though it is chargeable, you only need to charge it about after 12 months! Now if that’s not cool, then I don’t know what is.

Another super cool extra is that You can also do the reverse search.
So when you have Chipolo Loop and you need to find your phone - well, you can easily make your phone ring, not just the Loop. So yes, Chipolo actually CAN ring your phone.
Compatibility
The big question is always if the bluetooth tracker works with both - Android and iOS. And we have great news! Chipolo Loop does pair with both. So it doesn’t matter if you have an Android phone or an iPhone, the Chipolo Loop will work with both of them.
What could be better?
Not anything dramatic, But IF something could be improved then:
they don’t have an NFC tag reader… at least the Chipolo Loop we’ve tested doesn’t have it. But at the same time, do we really complain about it? Not really, because most people don’t even know that the AirTag or Xiaomi Tag has it;
second thing is that on their website they say that the device has a light. Well… it kinda does, but then again not really. It is way too small of a light to call it a light feature. It lights up when you start charging your device, but it’ll have 0 help in helping you find the Chipolo Loop.
Chipolo as a pet tracker?
As you now the Chipolo Loop is for finding things… and you phone. But while it’s a tracking item - could it also be used to track dogs or cats?
The device is IP67 waterproof, it does have a very light casing, you can attach it simply to whatever you might need and it doesn’t have ANY extra fees or hidden subscriptions.
So we would say that if you want to use Chipolo Loop as a pet tracking backup/alternative in urban areas, then you can give it a try.

Final thoughts…
In the end I would say that Chipolo is definitely up there when it comes to bluetooth trackers like the Apple AirTag, Xiaomi tag and others.
It has super a very loud sound that you can even customise, it doesn’t require any kind of subscription, it’s made from sustainable materials - and you can’t say that with other similar items like the Loop.
So when you are looking for a tracker, something other than the big old AirTag, then we definitely recommend giving Chipolo Loop a try.
