Which dog chew to choose?

Benebone vs Betterbone - which dog chew to choose

Does your dog or new puppy bite your hands or seemingly want to chew on things? Well, giving your dog a safe yet interesting chew toy to keep them busy and satisfied might be difficult. Especially when there are so many options on the market.

Well, we have discovered and tried out a couple safe dog chew options - Betterbone and Benebone. We have written a separate reviews on both, which you can read from here and here. But if you want to know, which one to choose out of these two, then keep reading.

What is Benebone?

Benebone is pretty well-known by their durable and flavoured dog chew toys. They are made using real ingredients like chicken, peanut butter or bacon.

What is Benebone dog chew toy

Benebone’s dog chews are designed for heavy chewers, but they also have softer ones for teething puppies as well.

Different dog chew toy designs make them look fun but are also paw-friendly to make chewing easier and more engaging for your dog.

What is Betterbone?

When it comes to dog chew toys, then Betterbone is a bit newer kid on the block. They put quite a lot emphasis on eco-friendliness and safety, which is always positive.

What is Betterbone dog chew toy

Betterbone dog chew toys are made from natural and sustainable materials (cellulose and vegetable oil).

They also don’t use any artificial colours, chemicals or flavours.

They also focus on being safe and gentle on the dog’s teeth, while still giving your dog a satisfying chewing experience.

Our dog’s experience

As always, if we’re trying out a new dog tech, food or toy, then our happy go lucky Husky has the honour to give them all a try.

Our dog really seemed to enjoy chewing both, Betterbone and Benebone dog chew toys with pleasure. BUT after some time, we have given her a choice, by putting both of the dog chews in front of her…and every time she has chosen Benebone.

Of course, every dog is different. But what we think, is that she just feels more of the flavour from Benebone. And also different and fun shapes lets her to get a better grip.

Chew by chew breakdown

If you don’t want to buy both of them and just want to start off with one of them. Then maybe this little side-by-side comparison helps you to choose.

But again, if you feel like you would want to know more about either of these dog chew toys, then we have a full review about Benebone and Betterbone on our Pocket Puppy School blog. Feel free to read them. 🤓

So, which one to choose?

We would say, that both, Betterbone and Benebone are great choices. At the end it all comes to your personal values (do you prefer products that are more sustainable or not) as a dog owner and your dog’s chewing style.

If you have a power chewer or someone picky, then Benebone with it’s toughness and strong flavours could be better choice.

But if your dog is a more gentler chewer, then the eco friendly and natural tasting Betterbone might be the one instead.

Our dog L.O.V.E.S chewing and also seems to enjoy the stronger flavours. So we have more Benebones in our house. But she would never say to to a new Betterbone either. 😋
