3 products that can help to calm your pet

Have you sometimes found yourself thinking or Googling “how to calm my anxious dog?” or “how to relax my hyper energetic dog?” - you are definitely not the first pet owner.

Over the years in Pocket Puppy School, we have seen so many different dogs, super energetic, scared, anxious, shy etc. And even though mostly things like that can be fixed with regular training, routine and house rules, then there are times, where your dog might need some extra support.

And especially in situations, where the owners themselves can’t control it, like fireworks, thunderstorms and a lot more.

Let’s see what are the 3 inedible calming aids that could help your dog in an uncomfortable or overly excited situations.

Natural pheromone calming collar

Our pets are often times very sensitive to changes, unexpected and unfamiliar circumstances. It could be moving to a new home, fireworks, going for a car ride etc.

In these cases it can be useful to try out some calming and supportive tools, like this Get Fur Life natural calming collar. This non-toxic, non-sedative collar releases a natural pheromone that helps to calm your pet’s emotional well-being.

So if you do feel like your dog or your cat is overwhelmed, but you’re not quite ready to try special medications or CBD, then why not try this calming collar.

ThunderEase dog calming pheromone diffuser

Now this one is interesting one. A diffuser, but for dogs. Now, it might seems weird, but it is actually used and recommended product by vets. There might even be one of these in the vet’s office you’re visiting with your dog.

The ThunderEase calming diffuser is drug free, other animals and us as humans are not affected by it.

So for this product to work, you need to plug it into your wall outlet with its vents pointed upwards and that’s it. If it’s plugged in, acting like the calming collar, it releases a calming pheromone, that actually mimics the same calming pheromone that’s released when mommy dog nurses her puppies.

ThunderShirt dog anxiety jacket

This one is another awesome pick for dog owners who first want to try out something that doesn’t rely on medication. This vest is snug-fitting and applies gentle, yet constant pressure to your dog. Think of it as a soothing hug.

But it is good to keep in mind, that before you start using it for real situations, where your dog is extra anxious or very hyper. You should bring it gradually into your daily lives. So maybe after a walk, when your dog is already calm and lying down on it’s cozy dog bed, you can put this vest on your dog.

That way, in a situation, where your dog actually is very scared of something, feeling anxious or overly excited, the vest reminds your dog that calm feeling while wearing it.

Final thoughts

Let’s be real here, even though all of these remedies could be very helpful and support your pet in an overstimulated or anxious situation.

But either of these are a quick fixes. Do pair them with consistent training, enough exercise and it could step up the impact of these products.

It is definitely not a shame to try these out to make your dog more relaxed, but these are just to support on top of everything else you’re doing daily with your dog.
